Obstetrical care before labour
You may need to visit our obstetrical outpatient clinic or receive antepartum care in the hospital before you go into labour.
Obstetrical assessment clinic
Some patients may come to the clinic to be assessed before they go into labour. Your doctor will book your appointment with the clinic if you need:
- a non stress test
- to see an obstetrician or anesthetist about medication to start the induction process
- to complete the pre-admission process for an elective cesarean section
- to have an ultrasound
When you arrive at the hospital you can come straight to the obstetrical assessment clinic. Please be on time for your appointment.
Antepartum care in the hospital
Some patients will need care in the antepartum unit before their baby is born. Your healthcare provider will discuss this with you if it necessary.
