Spiritual care

Our teams offer spiritual care services to all patients, residents and families, regardless of faith, background or tradition. We honour each person’s wishes and unique journey.

Chaplain services

Our chaplains are on-site to respond to a wide range of needs.

They may:

• support you with end-of-life concerns, including ceremonies, memorial planning and decision-making
• help you explore meaning and purpose in life
• support you during grief and loss
• explore ethical concerns facing patients, residents and staff
• provide religious care (prayer, requests for sacraments or visits from faith leaders)
• help you explore your understanding of God or the Divine
• arrange a quiet space for you in the chapel

Indigenous care liaison services

Some of our sites have Indigenous care liaisons to support Indigenous patients, residents and families.

They may:

• provide comfort
• provide and honour Indigenous traditions and ceremonies, such as smudging
• help ensure a spirit of hospitality for Indigenous persons
• provide opportunities for caregivers to understand culturally appropriate care and apply their learnings
• serve as a communication link between Covenant Health and the Indigenous community

Religious services

Some of our sites offer religious services at regularly scheduled times.
