Meet Lyndsey
Licensed practical nurse, Misericordia Emergency Department
October 17, 2022
Lyndsey was not sure what department she wanted to work in when she graduated as a licensed practical nurse (LPN) 14 years ago. “I was just excited to be done school, and I couldn't wait to gain experience and build on my skills and knowledge wherever I could.”
When Lyndsey was offered a position in the emergency department (ED), she was excited and nervous, but she accepted the job and has been part of the team ever since.
Lyndsey describes the team she works with as compassionate, courageous, intelligent, resilient and hardworking. “They’re so skilled it's ridiculous and full of so, so much heart,” she says.
It is being part of a “work family” that keeps her coming back day in and day out.
“We support and look out for each other, challenge and teach each other and keep each other laughing. I am so proud of and thankful to be part of this amazing team, especially during the last few years and the unimaginable challenges of working frontline during a pandemic.”
Lyndsey is very excited about the Misericordia's new ED opening in 2023. While there will be new equipment, more room in treatment spaces and a staff courtyard, it is the windows she’s most excited about. Natural light was a key element incorporated into the design.
There will also be new teammates in the larger department.
When asked what advice she would give to those joining the ED team, she says to “always expect the unexpected, and don’t forget to drink your water.”
