Grant helps NICU Crocheters support more Alberta families
October 28, 2021
A growing group of committed crocheters is getting a boost as they continue to serve more babies and families in NICUs across the province, thanks to a grant from the Canada Post Community Foundation.
NICU Crocheters co-founder Sharon Mackenzie applied for, and recently received, a Canada Post Community Foundation grant, which will cover the shipping costs to deliver adorable outfits to babies in NICUs across the province.
Sharon, a registered nurse, and a colleague at the Misericordia Community Hospital, started making crocheted outfits for babies in the neonatal intensive care unit for holidays like Christmas and Easter. Last year, they started a Facebook group, which now has more than 400 members and has expanded to serve eight hospitals across Alberta.
